Blogs were all the rage like 10-15 years ago.
It seems like everybody had one.
It was a great way to put yourself out on the internet with an idea or niche that you could write for one reason or another.
One reason that I like the concept of blogs is that it usually costs a little bit of money to have one.
So, people typically do not do it unless they have something important to say.
The purpose can be family, politics, sales, spiritual, or anything that person wants to talk about.
I want to talk about creating a blog that is about something you love as well as makes you money possibly replacing your income and completely changing your life.

Blogs seem old school but they are alive and well.
Let me explain how a blog can become profitable.
If you hate writing, then a blog may not be for you.
So, when you first start writing, possibly nobody will read what you write.
I recommend that you get comfortable writing a few posts and then go look for readers.
Now, if you decide to do this, you need to commit to a certain number of posts per week or month in order to keep people coming back.
There is nothing worse than going to a business that looks like nobody has worked there in a few months.
Consistency is key.
I’m not saying how often you should write, but whatever you decide, stick to it.
The beauty of a blog site is you can write from just about anywhere anymore from a laptop.

To get readers, you need to let people know about your blog.
Even if you are an amazing writer in your field, it will not matter if nobody knows it is there.
Now the idea is that eventually Google will start to send people to your blog who are searching for your topic, but that does not happen at first.
Google loves blogs.
They always come up high on search results, but they have to know you are a good place to send their users first.
Google wants to know you are an authority.
First, let everyone know on any social media platform about your blog.
You might need to make more friends on facebook in order to get people coming to read.
Over time, you will get more readers if you continue to deliver valuable content.
Your keywords and topics should be related to things that people are searching for on Google.
If you need help with that, go to google keyword planner.
It will tell you how many people searched for certain topic in the last month and how much competition you have.
Also, it’s free if you have a google account.
There are other ways to get your blog ranked better with Google.
First, you need to have over 50 posts in order to be considered an authority by Google.
Next, it helps if other websites have links that lead back to your blog.
Create as many of these as you can and get other businesses to put links in theirs as well.
Google can see that and it gets you ranked higher (they show your site to more people).
After a while, you will get a following and get ranked decently so that you are getting free traffic.

This is awesome right?
Well, what about the money?
So there are a few ways to make money from this.
The most obvious way is for you to sell something on your blog.
If you have digital program or physical product, you could sell it there.
You could sell someone else’s product in your niche that you recommend and get a cut or commission from the sale.
You could also sell space on your blog to advertisers.
If you get a lot of traffic on your blog, advertisers will pay you so they can put their ads there.
Or you could do a combination of those things.
You could sell a subscription service where people pay you to send them high-value content in whatever you are writing about.
It really could be anything or maybe there are things that I haven’t even considered or imagined.
It could take a year or two to get a strong following, but a year or two is going to pass whether you start a blog or not.
You have something to contribute that people need and want to know about.
Also, I find writing to be therapeutic as I am able to get thoughts, emotions, and frustrations out of my system and put meaning to what I am thinking.
There are ways to set up WordPress with plugins that help Google recognize you easier as well as ways to look at other blogs and websites in your niche that are doing well and seeing the keywords that get them traffic.
It’s pretty technical and more than I have space for here.
