The first thing to do is start building an audience.
If you have your own product or service, then you could potentially be developing this at the same time.
Instagram is all pictures, memes, and short videos.

Getting people’s attention IS THE GAME HERE.
Ideally, you will be operating in a niche that is somewhat exclusive so that you stand apart.

For example, I live in Utah and we have some beautiful natural parks and scenery here.
There are a couple people that post pictures of those scenes regularly and it always gets my attention.
Ok, so after posting great content, make sure you are responding to people’s comments.
This shows that you care (I hope that you really do. Don’t be fake) and boosts your post higher in the feed.
Also, find people that follow you and comment on their posts.
The engagement helps the algorithm and keeps you in people’s minds.
In order to get a large following, you have to post at least once per day.
The people with big audiences (influencers) post often.
The biggest influencers post on average about 3 times per day.
So, maybe that’s the sweet spot.
There is discussion about the time of day to post and not everyone is in agreement.
The sooner your post gets activity, the more instagram moves it up and shows it to others.
Just keep your audience in mind there.

Next, hashtags are super important.
I read an article that said 11 hashtags are the sweet spot and get the most engagement.

First, you can do sponsored posts.
This means that brands pay you to put their product in front of your audience.
The sponsor should align with your brand.
It might be weird if you are in the “fitness” niche and the sponsor is Dunkin’ Donuts.
So, be smart and don’t piss off your audience.
Promote brands that you believe in or are at least cool with.
Affiliate marketing also works well on Instagram.
This means you find affiliate products that other people are selling and promote them yourself.
Once the person buys, the company sends you a commission for getting them the customer.
If you want to be effective here, make sure to be congruent.
Another option is to just create your own product or service.
If you already have something in mind, then you can create an audience aligned with the values of your product or service.
Digital information products work well here.
Once again, an unused niche is the best way to corner the market with your product or service.
Lastly, you can license your photos or video.
If you take amazing videos or photos, then your audience will be able to see your work firsthand and you can sell them rights to use them.
