The Real Truth about Having a Successful Online Business
This picture is epic for me.
Before I tell you about it, if you are looking for a way to make money working part time online see my #1 recommendation.
It allowed me quit my full-time job and work part-time from my laptop even though I had no prior tech skills.
Now back to my story…
My wife took this picture sitting on the back of a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide we rented in Fort Lauderdale while driving over the bridge to Key Largo on our way to Key West, Florida.
This is a trip I have wanted to take for years and I finally got to go.
It was truly amazing and I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity.
The reason I am talking about this is it displays perfectly something about being a business owner and the life we create for ourselves.
What you can’t see in the picture is how bad I was sweating in the heat and the sunburn I developed even though I applied sunscreen a couple times.
My wife and I looked and smelled like homeless people by the time we got to Key West.
I had never been to Key West, so I misjudged the journey and we really should have taken a couple more days for the ride.
Also, that bike is bigger than anything I had ever ridden before and although it’s great for long distances, I felt stress from trying to maneuver it around and all the stop and go traffic.
It was a relief to drop it off at the end and I was completely exhausted.
I nearly missed my flight home and I had an important meeting the morning after.
So, why am I telling you all this?
It’s not to complain.
In fact, this will be one of my favorite memories.
It was the most beautiful trip and I loved seeing the ocean front houses and restaurants.
I ate some amazing food and I got to share it with my wife, who was a great sport about the heat and long, long drive in it.
The point here is that before I took this trip, I had built up this fantasy in my head about driving a motorcycle to Key West.
In my fantasy, there wasn’t blistering heat and humidity.
I never got tired and sweaty and spent moments wondering if maybe I bit off more than I could chew,.
In my head, I only saw the epic vistas and great food.
It was the same when I started my business.
I could only see how I was going to make a bunch of money and help a bunch of people.
It was all going to grow perfectly and I would just become a millionaire making money from the internet.
Well, it has actually been much different.
It was damn hard to get where I’m at now and I still have a long way to go before I feel like I’m really making the impact that I want.
I have wasted money and time on things that didn’t work.
I have had people on the internet call me every dirty name there is.
It has been so hard at times, I have shed tears and wondered if this was right for me and maybe I should just quit and give up.
It has also been the most amazing journey and experience.
I have been able to spend more time with my family and take them on amazing trips and adventures.
I have met new people who are the strongest and most accepting people I know and have become my very best friends.
I have watched people find hope again as they realize they can change their circumstances and create the life that they want even years after they had given up on their dreams.
I have also become so much better and more of the person I feel that I should be as I have worked on being the best version of myself and also accepting who I am.
Everything in life has associated pains and pleasures.
Reality is seeing both and understanding it.
Having a job has pains and pleasures.
So does being a parent or spouse.
So does owning a home.
So does renting a home.
Nothing in life only gives you pleasure with no pain.
Also, nothing in life is only pain.
There is always positive on the other side even if it is just something that makes you stronger or better able to understand your life and other people.
So, the trick is to always be grateful for everything.
If something seems negative and you can’t see how you can be grateful, it’s because you have a fantasy about how things are supposed to be and you either aren’t accepting the bad side or can’t see the good on the other side.
It is ALWAYS both.
There is opposition in all things.
Everything even down to the atom is both positive and negative.
Having gratitude for everything is the key.
