Do you use affirmations?
That’s a trick question, because everyone does.
However not everyone does it with intention.
Your self-communication determines your life.
You can actually hear where someone is at in their life by how they speak.
That’s because speech is a reflection of what is happening inside the mind.
Affirmations: What Are They and How Can They Transform Your Life?
I once believed that affirmations were for ignorant new-age weirdos.
I couldn’t see how telling myself I was rich or successful was going to make that happen.
I was partially right (more on that later).
However, we affirm our beliefs to ourselves everyday by what we say.
Have you heard yourself say any of these things?
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
That doesn’t happen to people like us.
Rich people are assholes.
I don’t have money for that.
I’m not as _______ as they are (smart, pretty, savvy, etc.)
You are telling your self who you are by your words and your life is reflecting that back to you.
Understanding Affirmations:
Maybe you’ve heard this comparison, but it explains easily what I’m talking about here.
Let’s say I gave you a box full of cake ingredients and instructions on how to bake the cake.
Now, even if you messed up the ingredients ratios or the process, you would likely at least end up with something similar to cake.
It might be soggy or burnt, but it would still be a cake by definition.
You would not be able to turn those ingredients into a bicycle.
Even if you really wanted to.
It’s the wrong ingredients and recipe.
When you are trying to create wealth for yourself, but you are giving your brain ingredients for scarcity and poverty,
you will never see wealth come from that.
It doesn’t matter how bad you want it.
Often, I hear people say that if they just knew what to do, they would be wealthy.
However, I know that’s not true, because the information is available for all of us,
but only a small fraction of the population has the wealth and lifestyle that they want.
The reason is mindset.
When I talk about mindset here, this is what I mean:
Your net worth will never exceed your self worth.
I don’t have time to go down that entire rabbit hole on this post.
One of the fastest ways to improve your self worth is by improving your self talk.
It’s the same way that many successful people have changed their mindset to be wired for success.
How Do Affirmations Work?
Affirmations work by tapping into the subconscious mind.
It’s not anything weird, it’s real science.
In order to keep you alive, your subconscious mind is working constantly to prove that your beliefs are true for you.
It doesn’t matter what the belief is.
Your subconscious mind will filter out everything that doesn’t coincide with your beliefs.
Changing a belief in the conscious mind is not that hard, but getting the subconscious on board is harder.
Your beliefs have been getting affirmed for your entire life.
Using affirmations that change the belief to be what you want will take time, but eventually will change your subconscious mind if you are consistent over time.
It will require you to watch your words and the period of time it takes depends on the person.
This is not a day or week long change.
However, you can change any belief about yourself that you desire.
