There are a few factors that set successful marketers apart from the rest.
If you are spending money and/or time on marketing your business and not seeing results,
make sure you read this to the end so that you can start getting the leads and sales you are looking for.
1. Define Your Customer
If you don’t have your customer pinned down, it won’t work.
Think about when someone can speak to your specific problem in your language.
It’s almost impossible to say no to the solution.
However, you ignore almost everything else.
Ideally, you know everything about your customer:
- what shows they watch
- where they shop
- how they talk
- where they hang out
- what they eat
- etc…
If you nail down who your customer is, the rest of it is cake.
There is NOTHING more important than knowing your customer inside and out.
That specific person is who you should be talking to in every single ad and social media post.
Many new marketers think they should be marketing to everyone so that they leave their potential customer base as large as possible.
However, when you market to everyone, you market to no one.
Narrow down your ideal customer as much as possible and others who don’t completely fit into that mold, will still buy from you and want to be a part of your community.
They will find ways to relate themselves to the person you are talking to.
It only works the one way.
2. Email Your List Daily
First of all, if you are not growing an email list, you don’t have a real business.
When you run ads or market on social media, even if they are interested in your product or service,
you don’t have a real way to show them your product again without it costing you more time and money.
Marketers call it the rule of 7.
Prospects need to see your message or product 7 times before they will buy.
It’s not exact obviously, but if someone is on your email list, you can send them emails for a week and cut that time down for them to get off the fence.
Also, you have much more control over what you can put in an email vs. an ad or a post on social media.
Capture their email by giving them a free informational ebook or a sample of your product for free.
I have people on my email list from 5 years ago that buy products from me.
3. Always Be Learning
The most successful marketers invest thousands into learning.
Most of the time, it’s just to get a few more good ideas and skills.
They are already doing well, but they know they either growing or dying.
Assume that you are on a path of lifetime learning.
Embrace it and realize that you will never be done if you want to always be moving forward.
Spend time and money on great books and courses.
Also, make sure you spend time on your mindset.
I have talked extensively on this blog about mindset and it is more important than any skill or talent you have.
Your net worth will never exceed your self worth.
For some of you, this component is the most important thing for you to work on.
Every successful marketer I know talks extensively about mindset.
Take it seriously.
4. Patience and Persistence
These are 2 different words, but they go together here.
I was not a patient person when I first got into online marketing.
I still struggle with being patient.
However, if you put in the work every day, eventually, you will win.
Everyone is on a different part of their journey.
Don’t look around and wonder why you aren’t doing as well as others.
That is mental poison.
Just put your head down and know that you are on your path at your point on it.
It can be hard to be patient if you are putting in a lot effort and are struggling.
I have been there.
You have to separate your happiness from the result.
Figure out what your effort is each day and reward yourself for doing it.
It’s the only thing you control.
Don’t tie your joy to something others have control over or they decide for you how you feel.
5. Never Give Up
Now you just need to keep at it.
You will need to adapt and change as your business teaches you what works and also to grow.
Remember, be stubborn about where you want to get to, but not how you get there.
You will likely make big and small changes along the way that are necessary to get to the next level.
However, do not stop going for your dreams.
When solutions present themselves, make sure it’s not a shiny object that is pulling you away from what you are doing.
It is easy to get caught up spinning multiple plates, but only one of them is actually helping you get results.
Focus on the one thing that moves you forward and get better at that one thing every single day.
I know what it’s like to be in the trenches every day trying to get something off the ground.
It’s one of the hardest things I ever did.
If that’s where you are, I promise you that you are closer than you realize.
Also, just move a little closer each day.
Success is inevitable.
You inspire me.
