What does it take to “make it” today?
Well, what does “make it” mean to you?
Do you have an idea, product, or book you are trying to get off the ground?
Maybe you have a website based business or investments you are trying to grow and make profitable.
It could be having a great job and being able to pay the bills.
I read and loved the “4-hour work week” and despite the many amazing and brilliant ideas in there, many of the lifestyle choices in that book may not be available to you at this moment.
However, it is very definitely possible for you to get there.
I have been promoting an offer on this website (my #1 recommendation) since inception that can teach anyone willing to take some time and learn new skills what they need in order to make money online using software that automates the whole process.
It’s not completely hands off, especially at first, but it can be something that only takes a few hours per week after learning how everything works and fine tuning it for a bit.
It’s perfect for beginners, but there’s a somewhat inconvenient truth that most people will not tell you about.
Building a business from scratch takes hard work.
It’s harder work than anything else I ever did.
It took longer than I thought it would and cost more money than I initially believed.
I always hear people talk about work-life balance or they ask me if I’m worried about getting burnt out.
I almost laugh because I know that the only way to reach my goals are to focus on them and push everything else out of the way.
Financial independence and freedom are not impossible or out of reach for most of us.
The problem is that we don’t research how simple the process is and how much blood, sweat, and tears it’s going to take to get there.
I thought I was going to be living the sweet life six months after I started my online business.
In all reality, It was a serious grind for almost two years to finally start having the life I dreamed of and honestly, most people I know who have lifestyles I want took even longer than that.
So, now that you’re completely sold, let me go even further.
Let’s look at the work ethic of people who seem to have “made it”.
Mark Cuban didn’t take a vacation for seven years while starting his first business and typically stayed up until 2 am studying software developments.
Apple CEO Tim Cook starts sending emails at 4:30 am and is usually the last to leave the office.
Jeff Bezos worked 12 hour days for 7 days per week in the early Amazon days.
CEO Carlos Ghosn (Nissan and Renault) works more than 65 hours every single week.
Michael Jordan spent his entire summers off season practicing jump shots to perfect his game.
Kobe Bryant would change his shooting technique when he had broken fingers and practice so he could shoot effectively while injured.
Elon Musk says to put in 100 hour workweeks until you make it.
I could continue to go on and on.
The point here is that work-life balance is only after you have put yourself into a position where it doesn’t take every ounce of energy and second you have in order to keep the ball rolling.
I’m going to use a couple analogies here that I heard from a friend:
First, suffocate yourself with your goal.
I love that description because it accurately describes how it should feel.
There should be nothing else in the way or providing a distraction.
It will squash out everything else.
Second, starting a business is like pushing a car.
It takes all your strength for a while to get the car moving but once it’s moving it takes way less energy to keep it going.
If you double down on the effort at that point you might get it rolling faster before you start to let off.
Get it going so fast, that it can’t be stopped, not even by you.
How do I not get burnt out?
Because the goal for me is such a powerful calling.
Freedom is so important to me that I will do anything and give up anything to attain it.
That’s why it comes to me so easily now.
I refused to stop when it was hard, when it felt like a grind, and when I was in tears for how tired and beat up I felt.
I didn’t listen to others when they said I was crazy, obsessed, a workaholic, someone with misplaced priorities, and wasting my time.
I just put my head down and went to work and now I’m reaping the rewards.
This isn’t a bragging session.
It shows what’s possible.
You can do this too, I just don’t want to lie to you and tell you it’s going to take less than what it is.
If you work harder than I do, perhaps you will make it happen sooner than I did.
It’s not standing on the middle of a seasaw and balancing the two sides though.
You need to jump onto the very extreme end of it and push as hard, long and fast as you can until it starts to move the earth.
I believe in you.
More importantly, I know that if I did it, so can you.
I knew nothing about websites, marketing, and persuasion before I started on this journey.
